In the previous chapter, you learned to construct sentences using ‘have’ in affirmative answers about the possession of something.

In this lesson, we shall learn how to form negative answers about the possession of something using ‘have’. We will take the third person as a sentence subject in these answers.

Construction of a negative answer using ‘have’

The structure of a negative answer is as follows:

  • No, + subject (he/she/it/any other singular noun) + doesn’t + have + other words + full stop (.)

Formation of short negative answers using ‘have’

While learning affirmative sentences about possession, we have seen that we should pay attention to the first verb in a question. Question with a third person as a subject, and the verb ‘have is started from does.

So, we use the first verb in a sentence to form the short answer.

In this lesson, we are answering the questions starting with does.

So, the formation of a short negative answer is as follows:

  • No, + subject (he/she/it/any other singular noun) + doesn’t  + full stop (.)
