In this lesson, we will use ‘was’ in negative sentences to describe the past state of being. But first, we shall see how to form these sentences.

Formation of a sentence

In this sentence, we should use ‘not’ with ‘was’; that is, ‘was not’ to tell about the past state.

The formation of this sentence is as follows:

• Subject (I/he/she/it/singular noun) + was not + other words + full stop (.)
