Were: Negative Answers about State

Home » Listening » Were: Negative Answers about State

In the previous lesson, we learned how to answer about the past state in an affirmative sentence.
In this lesson, we shall learn how to answer about the past state in a negative sentence.

We shall answer in a complete sentence as well as in brief.

Now, we shall answer in a negative sentence.

Formation of a negative answer

These are negative answers.

In this formation, we use 'not' with 'were'.

So, the formation of a negative answer is as;

  • No, + subject (we/you/ they/ plural noun) + were not + remaining words.

In brief, we can answer as;

  • No, + subject + weren’t.

Here are some answers. The formation is as above.
