Use of Is in Negative Sentences About the Present State
You know that the verb ‘is’ is used with the pronouns he, she, it, and any other singular noun. In the lesson ‘Use of is’, we used ‘is’ in affirmative sentences.
In this lesson, we will use ‘is’ in negative sentences to describe the present state of being. But first, we shall see how to form these sentences.
Formation of a Sentence
In this sentence, we use ‘not’ with ‘is’.
The formation of this sentence is as follows:
- Subject (he/she/it/any third person, singular number noun) + is + not + other words + full stop (.)
