Uses of Present Perfect Tense

 

 

1) Present Perfect Tense is used to tell the completion of immediate past action; as,

  •           I have just finished my work.

2) Present Perfect Tense is used to explain the effect of past action in present; as,

  •           Sameer has repaired the computer.

This sentence means – now computer is ready to use.

  •         I have finished my homework.

This sentence means – now I don’t have any homework.

3) Present Perfect Tense is used to explain the past action but continued upto the time of speaking; as,

  •        I have taught these students for five years.
  •        She has known her for a long time.

4) Present Perfect Tense is used to explain indefinite past action; as,

  •       Have you watched that movie?
  •       She has never seen him in such a situation.
