See how a noun becomes a pronoun.
Pronouns reduce repetition while keeping the reference clear.
Emphatic or Intensive Pronouns
Sometimes compound personal pronouns are used to emphasise the noun.
Such pronouns are called emphatic pronouns or intensive pronouns.
Emphatic pronouns are similar to reflexive pronouns.
We use emphatic pronouns to show that the noun performs the action without anyone’s help.
Examples of Emphatic Pronouns
- I myself did it.
- You yourself can write this article.
- He himself attended that lecture.
- The building itself is very tall.
- She will search it herself.
- The secretary himself welcomed us to the school.
- They themselves admitted their misdeed.
Now it’s easy to understand, so you can write some examples using emphatic pronouns in sentences.
