How to Use Had in Affirmative Answers about Possession

In the previous chapter, you learned to construct sentences using ‘did and have’ to ask questions about the possession of something in the past.

Construction of an affirmative answer using ‘had’

The structure of an affirmative answer is as follows:

• Yes, + subject (any singular or plural noun) + had + other words + full stop (.)

Formation of short answers using ‘did’

When a question is asked, short answers are most commonly used.

We use the first verb in a sentence to form the short answer.

In this lesson, we are answering the questions starting with did.

So, the formation of a short affirmative answer is as follows:

• Yes, + subject (any singular or plural noun) + did.
