Use of Is: Negative Answers About Profession

In the previous lesson, we learned how to answer about a person’s profession using ‘is’ in an affirmative sentence. In this lesson, we shall learn how to answer in a negative sentence.

Formation of a negative answer

In this formation, we use ‘not’ with ‘is’.

So, the formation of a negative answer is as follows:

• No, + subject ( he/she/is/any singular noun)  + is + not + other words + full stop (.)

In brief, we can say:

• No, + subject + isn’t + full stop (.)
• No, he isn’t.
• No, she isn’t.
