Use of ‘were’ in Sentences of Past State of Being

‘Were’ is used with ‘we’ (first person plural number), ‘you’ (second person singular number as well as plural number), ‘they’ which is plural number of he, she and it and these, those or any subject of plural number.

Formation of sentence

Subject + were + remaining words

We can use were with we, you, they, these, those and any plural subject in simple sentences.

We can use were to tell about-

  • past state of being
  • profession
  • physical condition
  • continuous action in past
